Again, I second the use of Squid, it is a great product.  But I think you
will NEED to run IP-Masq as well, as squid only does HTTP, FTP, and DNS.  If
you want to use something like telnet, ICQ, some streaming MP3's, you will
need IP-Masq to enable more direct communication between you internal
box(ex) and the great IP cloud in the sky.
