Re: Reboot failure after vacation!

Thanks for the responses to my cries for help. At this stage, I have
tried several routes, none successful.

Unfortunately that did not work, a hard disk boot attempt again leading
to, just before the LILO prompt, after a delay,
01 01 01 01 ... ad infinitum.

SO I had an OLDER LINUX bootdiskette which which I could still boot which
may be why the lilo command did nothing. Now I CAN from this bastard boot
diskette still mount the cdrom which I did and I can get autorun on it to
open kpackage in my X11 kde window manager. I now need to know how to do
an update, not a full install so that I can reinstall the boot sector.

Since I originally had W95 on a harddisk and added a new harddisk for
LINUX, I have, as confirmed by lilo.conf dated Oct.99, when I installed
RH6.1 via BSware 6.1, dos on hda1 and LINUX on hdb1, my problem may be a
harddisk failure of the W95 disk, the boot diskette giving me access to
the newer LINUX harddisk (hdb), but the boot sector on hda failing to give
me anything.

Do I now have to change the BIOS to boot from hdb? If so, do I have to
install a boot sector on hdb? Where, if so, and how?

Looking forward to the usual urbane informed wisdom flowing through the
klug list,
