A Hacked Redhat Install?

Is it possible (I assume it is), to do a RedHat (BS-Ware) install, but
originally boot a diffrent kernel than is in the default images? Basically I
need to install a Redhat 6.0 on a machine with a SCSI controller not
supported until 2.2.10.~
Can I build a boot floppy and set the root filesystem to be the CD_ROM drive?
Or do I need to find a copy of there root filesystem and create a RAM disk
off of the boot floppy?~
Redhat 6.0 is required by a software vendor, but they don't care as much
about the kernel version (don't as me why). I suspect an overdependence on
specific behaviours of a given version of glibc.
