Linux Day event set for February 17th

I am pleased to announce that we are planning a public demonstration and
event for February 17th, which is a Thursday. We pick this day to remind
and inform the public that there is a good choice of operating systems
available for their needs. Since, as we've seen, EVERY day is a day when
some new Open Source and/or Free Software package is introduced or improved,
this date is at least as appropriate as any.

We understand that a particular organization has chosen this day to as the
first one on which their latest offereing is becoming avilable for sale to
the public, but we would like to assure you that this has NO RELATION to our
selection of this date.

Sure.

We are looking for volunteers to help with this event. We will need people
to staff our demonstration area (The Kalamazoo Public Library, and PERHAPS
another site, still to be determined), and help with the numerous other
aspects of holding such an event. People with machines to bring in should
contact Richard Zimmerman (ke4rit@earthlink.net), as he may well be the first
person on the scene, or Andy Eidson (misplice@yahoo.com) who will be there
as well.

Starting tomorrow, our new Publicity Director will begin distributing Press
Releases about this event to media organizations all over the this part of
Michigan. This is a new stepp up for us in visibility, and expands our efforts
beyond the scope of e-mail and the Internet, a move toward making the sur-
rounding population ever more aware of our activies and our message. We cannot
predict the effect of this on this particular event; intuition tells me it
can only help over time.

Consider how you can help this effort, then please contact us. We are doing
what we can to help spread the word about Linux, Free Software, and what
may be a better way to do business in the future. We look forward to hearing
from you.

                                                  Best Regards,
                                                      ---> RGB <---
