We buy a ton of HP's off a certain online auction for work.
This has nothing to do with Linux, but only about 50% of them
are good when the come in.  The other half are DOA and we need
to send them to HP for repair.  HP is real good about fixing 
them, it's just a pain. 

It only seems to happen with one online auction we deal with.  
Email me privately if you want to know which auction.
I wouldn't like to get sued for slander for posting it 
here on the list!   :{)
