SBLive! 128 Problems. (Again/Still)

After waiting some time to get over my frustration level with the
issue, I've revisited the project of getting my sound card to work in
Linux. I'm running Mandrake 6.1 on a dual-boot Compaq Prosignia
w/ 500Mhz Pentium III, 128 Mb RAM, STB nVidia based vid-card.
My sound card is a SB Live 512. It's an EMU10K card and should
work with the drivers that Creative has open-sourced.

When I attempt to play any sounds not being read from an audio
CD (as those work without any software support, duh.) all I get is a
tone, a rather annoying tone I might add.

I get everything to work properly, I understand all the steps except
for:

"UNLOAD ALL existing sound modules,"

Umm... how do I determine what is a sound module and what is
not? I've gotten a pretty big list from "modprobe -l -a" and I'm not
sure which ones I need to unload. I'll send the list if anyone would
like to see it, but don't want to send something that long for the
world to sort through. (The world in this instance being the Klug
people *grin*)

Thank you for any insights.
