Meeting 02-08-2000 - Creating a home network.
Bruce will repeat is highly requested presentation about building a
small network at home. With the current prices of PC's being extremely
cheap, a lot of households now contain more than one computer. Creating
a home network can have the standard advantages of sharing printers and
files, but with Linux, every computer on your home network can also
share a single dialup (or direct) connection to the internet!
Bruce will give an overview of network services from Linux to Linux, and
from Linux to legacy Windows systems.
Bruce Smith is a Systems Administrator and Software Developer for
Armstrong International Inc. where he is responsible for a HP-UX network
of Servers, Workstations, printers and X-Terminals spanning five
buildings in Three Rivers. Bruce has a degree in Computer Science and
Mathematics from Central Michigan University. (go Chips! :) Bruce runs
Linux, almost exclusively, on all his PC's at work and home, and runs a
lot of Armstrong's networking services on Linux!
