Tax Deductible Status - The 501c3 application was sent
to the IRS in December. We have received notice that
they are proceeding with the processing of our request.
We hope to hear from them soon with notice of our charitable

routinely granted to educational not-for-profit organizations.

working capital for increased Linux promotional activities.

III. PRESENTATION RECAP
Tonight's KLUG Presentation:
************************************************
- Oracle and High Availability w/ Raj Seshadri
When your system has to be up 100% of the time, what
options do you have? We heard what the very large
systems use for "up time" maximization! We talked
about how Linux will play a role in bringing these
technologies into the realm of small to medium size
business. Linux clustering. Is it here now?
The #1 cause of system failures -
environment 10%
user failure 20%
software failure 30%
hardware failure 40%
Raj described how Kellogg implemented Oracle's Consumer
Produced Goods(CPG) application packages(ie.ERP) operating
on redundant HP servers running MC/Service Guard behind
the Solaris 10x OS (ie.Unix). The data is triple mirrored
in an EMC data structure. To see the slides from this
presentation, go to this web site:
http://www.vikconsulting.com/ha
Check out the diagram of Kellogg's Oracle/HP configuration!!!
e-Mail Contact - "Raj Seshadri" <info@vikconsulting.com>
We discussed the possibility of researching redundant
Linux server projects. Linux clustering is being explored
by Veritas and others. Four or five club members present
indicated an interest in doing a study with Raj about Linux
clustering. Contact <bob@acm.org> for more info.
There were tasty doughnuts served after the presentation!
