cdrom I/O errors
Hey gang... I recently discovered that when I use cdp (or cdplay, some
program) I get the following error:
[marshall@optimus marshall]$ cdplay
CDROMPLAYTRKIND: Input/output error
It's strange because it worked OK before... it's a nearly new cdrom
drive (I have used cdplay on it before, though) so I don't think the
drive is bad.
[marshall@optimus marshall]$ uname -a
Linux optimus.prime 2.2.12-20 #1 Mon Sep 27 10:25:54 EDT 1999 i586
unknown
As you can see, I'm running kernel 2.2.12-20. I've heard of various IDE
bugs in the 2.2 kernels. Do you think I should upgrade the kernel and
see if that fixes it?
Any other suggestions? I tried running cdp as root and that didn't work
either (thinking it might be a permission problem...).
I can still play CDs with the play/skip button on the drive but that
doesn't help my cron job that should be waking me up every morning by
blasting Led Zeppelin...
