Re: X

ok... so the main reason i wasn't really wanting to use X thus far is that i
couldn't get a mouse to work... even after appropriately configuring...
anyhow i broke down and got another serial mouse (little cheapy from the
store) and X works... but man it's slow... so i was wondering:
how can i "uninstall" enlightenment/gnome so that i can use
something a little less graphically intensive? my main desire right now is
for this box to be an HTML producing box, one on which i can write some
scripting source and view it... i truly only need a window manager that'll
let me see my screen @ 800x600, rather quickly, and (even though i'm not
sure this is a window manager thing) let me run Netscape so i can view the
page in it's stunning graphical brilliance (so even i use hyperbole from
time to time) that's my main requirement... i don't care about the eye-candy
part of it all that much, i don't care if there are fish swimming around in
my background or if the earth is spinning or there's snow building up on my
windows... i want a solid color background with generic windows, the ability
to access a generic text editor, and then view the results in Navigator...

i plan on researching all the info on the little GUI window managers from
previous postings to the group... i just don't really know how best to
remove and add software in Linux...

thanks for any pointers/guidelines you can give me...

p.s. oh yeah, that article was knifty, now a guy from where i work wants to
go to a meeting and i think i can kinda catch a ride with him (i know WMU
like i know a $2bill, seen it occasionally but couldn't specifiy anything
about it)
