New diversified mailing lists avbailable now

A little while ago, we installed a new version of the mailing list
web page. This new page now supports multiple mailing lists. At the
present time there are three mailing lists:

The general mailing list, or members@kalamazoolinux.org
This mailing list will continue as it is now, for general discussion,
comments, announcements, questions and answers, and other items of
interest to the group as a whole.

In order to belong to any of the other mailing lists, you must be a
member of the general mailing list. This will provide us with a common
way to contact everyone, regardless of how many mailing lists we develop.

The novice mailing list, or novices@kalamazoolinux.org
Starting off with about a dozen people, this list will focus on the needs
and questions of novice users. We have several of our more knowledgable
Linux advisors, (or "mentors") monitoring traffic on this mailing list,
and ready to answer your questions. If you consider yourself either
novice or mentor, please feel free to join this list!

The introduction of this mailing list does not prohibit the asking of
novice questions on the general list, and flaming those who conduct
novice threads on the main mailing list is (like ALL flaming) not
appropriate. However, we would like to encourage the use of the novices
mailing list for those those who have as a main activity the conduct of
novice questions.

The debate about Operating Systems, or os-discuss@kalamazoolinux.org
This group is an outgrowth of a discussion thread on the general mailing
list, and although there has been almost no traffic on it for several
months, it's included in the set of mailing lists. Perhaps, now that
subscription to this list is now open to anyone who wants to join, we'll
see more activity. Debate among a self selecting group is often healthy,
and now one can opt out of discussions such as this one without dropping
all aspects of our mailing list service.

We are interested in your comments about this change, and suggestions for
the formation of new mailing lists will be considered. Please write to the
listmaster@kalamazoolinux.org with your ideas and commentary.

                                                              Regards,
                                                              ---> RGB <---
