I love it when people start a question out with "Is there a way..."  It
makes it sound like a challenge.

Anyway, there's no problem with what you want to do.  Go ahead and throw
the second drive in, begin the Linux install process and viola!  The
install process installs a bootloader called LILO (LInux LOader) which
should go in the mbr of the primary hard drive.  At boot time, LILO runs
and gives you a prompt.  At this point it doesn't matter if your Linux
drive is primary or not...

If you need some help bring your computer to the beginners' meeting this
Tuesday (be sure to fill out the form on the web page first).  If you've
installed Linux (or any operating system) before you shouldn't have too
much trouble.
