I drive through Lake City twice each year on Labor day weekend. It's a
beautiful little town that's about 30-50 miles of 2-lane blacktop east of
Cadillac and 131.
Leaving at 5:00pm would probably cause Murphy to put a couple hay wagons on
the road. US131 is fast until you get to Grand Rapids. When you get to GR
there's this thing called the S-Curve that's presently a big gap with a
river running through it. The detour goes through downtown GR and is also
annoying. I figure Lake City to Kazoo would be a taxing sojourn.
Conversely, isn't Kazoo to Pontiac is 4-lane all the way?
