printing woes
Howdy,
over the weekend, I downloaded RedHat 6.2 and installed it without a hitch.
Or I thought it was without a hitch, until a couple hours later when I tried
to print.
1. something wicked is happening to the lpd print daemon causing it to die
for reasons I don't undersstand. I've got my laser printer on /dev/ttyS0 and
it's a serial printer set to 19200. what i *think* is happening is something
changed in one of the more recent kernels to tighten security or something,
and i have to do something to give the print daemon access ot the port. i
don't know know what that is. anybody know what I should check?
2. what's the "correct" way to restart the print daemon? i feel like a
microserf loser rebooting justa restart the print daemon.
3.my ink jet printer on the parallel port is still working, but it wants to
access the parport via polled access. i get a message that i hafta do
something with procfs to get interrupts turned back on. this has been with
me for a few weeks. any ideas?
thanks in advance,
steve
