The system will automatically create the file.  If it isn't bieng 
created, then the mail isn't processing correctly.  Have you looked in 
/var/log/maillog to see what is happening to the message? Running 
"/usr/sbin/sendmail -v -d9 -t soandso@whereever.who" and simply entering 
a "." <Enter> as the e-mail message can show lots of cool stuff.

See the Samba presentation on the Klug past presentations page 
(assuming you want the Linux box to be the server).  Things like 
e-mail, etc..., are pretty much platform nuetral.
