Oh, yeah, you can do _that_: config files are removed or not with --purge
versus --remove. But if you want to save any app-specific libs, say, you
would have to cp them out of the dir. I think. :) But the Deebs are pretty
good about separating shared libs and apps.

If you think the users are abusive, wait till you read the maintainers! I'll
find the copy of the mail to list debian-user from one of their X
maintainers which is downright *rude*, and not a response to anything on the
list! Someone described Debian, in a short list touching on the known
distributions, as for developers; of course, the real description of Debian
should be "Newbie-unfriendly, if not downright hostile."
