I've also had this problem.  I'll let netscape 4.72 sit for a day (not touching it) and it will continue to eat up memory.  On another note, the latest version of mozilla seems to work fairly well.  There are still some annoying bugs, but it is almost at the stage where I would use it instead of Netscape.  I'm looking forward to the next release.
