I have a similar problem. I'm getting a DSL line installed and I don't
want to pay for the extra connections (cost $30/month more from Ameritech
for it) I have two boxes and figured I would do the same thing.....use one
of them as a proxy server.
However, I have absolutely no experience in networking and one of these
machines is going to be downstairs and one upstairs. Is this still a
viable solution? I had designs on possibly hosting my website off of it
along with a dedicated Roger Wilco server (since BattleCom doesn't have a
damn Linux port since M$ bought the company) off of it. Is this idea still
feasible? Can you point me to a HOWTO on it? What equipment will I
need? BTW, one of the machines is Win98 only, one is dual boot Mandrake
7/Win98 but is running on two hard drives so I can easily make it boot only
Mandrake.
Thanks!
