Re: which distro?

My internet router uses this hardware:

486/33
32mb ram
cheap video card & monochrome monitor
2 network cards (one for cable modem, one for my private net)
3.5" floppy drive

I use Coyote Linux to build the boot floppy. Coyote Linux seems to be
optimized for this machine's task. (If you want to check out the Linux
Router Project, that'll probably work, too.) I boot the machine and then
eject the floppy. The Coyote Linux distribution isn't a terribly big
download, I recommend it highly.

My router does IP-masq. It acts as a DHCP client (for the cable modem) and
it can serve as a DHCP server (for my private net). It's been rock solid and
the only sharp edge was making sure I had the right parameters and modules
for my network cards.
