mounting floppies

I have the following problem that is causing me problems.

When mounting /dev/fd0 to /mnt the contents of the floppy is available. 
But umounting it en remouting an other floppy gives me the same (old) content. 

Unfortunaly I did a sync on a not write protected floppy and that distroyed the contents by rewriting the TOC of the old floppy onto
the new one. 

This all happes on SuSE 6.3. 

Does someone know if this is a bug or how to flush the buffers that are likely causing this.
