- Introduction to Linux
by Robert G. Brown

AN OVERVIEW OF BASIC LINUX OPERATIONS WAS PRESENTED.
Bob showed us the things that new Linux users need to
know for basic operations after the installation of
their choice of distributions. This presentation
offers everyone a starting place with Linux. The
origins of Linux and the spirit of the GPL were
described. Remember to install ALL available docs
and 'man' pages. You'll be glad you did!

No FREE Linux installs were requested for this meeting.
The Installmasters were off enjoying the hot summer sun!

IV. NEXT WEEK'S MEETING - TUESDAY 7:00PM 06-13-2000
*****************************************************

PHP and Linux (server-side scripting) & P I Z Z A
Presented by Tony Gettig

Join us for the kickoff meeting of the PHP Special
Interest Group of KLUG! What is PHP? It's an open source
scripting language used on many dynamic content websites.
It is also used to connect surfers with backend databases.
But hey, you don't have to be a programmer to enjoy this
meeting! There will be FREE pizza for all who attend!
That's right, we'll bribe you with food! But the pizza
is just the appetizer! Our main course is PHP, what it
is and what the SIG is all about. If you have even a
slight interest in dynamic content websites or web-databases,
you won't want to miss this meeting!

http://www.php.net/ <------- Check this site for more info!

Tony Gettig is a self-employed computer consultant serving
clients throughout Southwest Michigan. He is a Novell CNE,
has dealt with more than a fair share of Microsoft operating
systems, and is an avid Linux advocate for both home and
corporate use. When he's not consulting, Tony enjoys spending
time with his family, spinning CD's on a Kalamazoo radio
station, and playing punk-pop music in a band.
