How is your disk partitioned?  Is the /boot near the beginning of the 
disk?  How recent is the IDE controller in this machine.  LI means 
that LILO started but couldn't reach/find a required component.  Try 
toggling LBA in the BIOS.  Or upgrading to SCSI ;}
