Time Tracking

Afternoon Everyone,

I'm looking for some software and I wondered if anyone had any thoughts
on where I could find this, even it it exists would be  nice to know. 
What I'm looking for is a time/project tracking software that would
interface with a scanner, not a typical scanner, but the kind that would
use magnetic cards that you would pass through the reader... kinda like
your credit/atm cards, or the room keys of most hotels, except these
would be assigned to an individual project.
  
Basically, I'm looking for a quick and easy way for a body shop to track
their time per project.  They don't want to do it on paper, so I thought
if each project that came through could have a card and a central
reader, then we could track it that way... they would swipe the card
when they
started the project and again when they finish.  The main requirements
would be that its EASY for them to use and they don't really want to
enter anything on the computer (mainly because they have messy hands and
that wouldn't be a good thing, and cost is a definite issue)  If anyone
has heard of what I'm looking for, or has some alternative that I have
not thought of, I would appreciate it.  They go from job to job as one
is drying, they get the next ready etc... and it makes it very difficult
to cost out product/projects.
