Re: Cannot ping from win98 to linux

I checked the routing tables then read the man help file for
route.Reconfigured the routing table and hey presto I could ping the server
& client .Samba is now showing the shares on the win 98 client. This newbie
wants to hug you .Thanks a lot. Now I can enter the wonderful world of
linux.

from my windows98 client to my linux box and visa versa ,which is running
coral linux the network cards according to ifconfig are correctly configured
and I can ping to local nic.I am using a 3com 3c905b card in the linux box
and a d-link 220 pnp card in the windows client. I sure that the problem
does not lie in the cable or the hubs as i was quite happily using win nt as
a PDC before i thought to give linux a try and was using the same win98
client. From my limited experence with linux I can say that I am hooked but
these initial teething problems are causing me considerable
frustration. Please could someone tell me what Iam doing wrong any help would
be apppreciated. Thanking you in advance.
