There were several packages (including a kernel driver that sends decoded
strings as output from a /dev/file), but the only one I've been able to acquire
is a Perl script. From the looks of things it sends something like Alt-F10
followed by a XORed base64 string, I don't see how any intellectual property
issues are involved in this as base64 is used by MIME and thus about every MUA
written in the last 10 years, so resolving this whole thing shouldn't take too
long. Given that even details on the PCB have been posted to the web and all
the parts are generic stuff you can get from someplace like JDR Microdevices I
don't see how they can stop people building their own (without that stupid cat
shaped handle).
