ssh update
Hi, security-conscious KLUGers,
Using the old version of ssh (1.2.27) I could communicate with
kalamazoolinux.org but NOT with a recently established ssh at my major
email site: kzoo.edu. It seemed to be a version problem, the version at
kzoo.edu (a solaris system) being 2.2. So I checked freshmeat and sure
enough there was an updated version, ssh-2.3.0, so I Uvh'd it and
eventually got the kzoo.edu to work reliably as long as I use ssh2 as the
connection command, but I could NOT connect with ssh on
kalamazoolinux.org. I discussed this with Bruce Smith a bit and updating
the KLUG site version did not seem likely to happen for a while.
Fortunately just now I tried the command
ssh1, not knowing if it even existed and sure enough, IT WORKED!
Could be helpful for those of you updating ssh. Looks like you can take
your time updating KLUG's ssh, Bruce.
