This sounds crazy.  If you look in Linux Journal every now and then 
satellite (full duplex) service providers run an add.  I think (this is
based purely or recollection) but the speed is quite high (~3Mb if I
recall the downstream speed correctly and something like 56k up stream,
anybody remember VSAT?).  The service costs less than $200 a month but 
the "satellite router" cost about $1500~2000.  The ones I saw we're
bieng marketed toward schools.  If I get a chance I'll see if I can
find the add.

It's hard to tell if it is OS specific without knowing the hardware used
(I assume some type of satellite router).
