Adam, I placed your sequence into a text file called keypadfix, executed it
while in
X11, opened up Abiword, and it WORKS!   Now I need to cat >> it onto Xsessions
in
/etc/X11/xdm/  in my RH LINUX., and it should be automatically performed on
entering an X11 session with
startx.

Neat workaround!   I agree, why would I want anything but numlock working in
X11?
