Linux 3D expert wanted

Hi all,

I've got a little research project for another nonprofit I'm
affiliated with.  If anyone is familiar with 3D modeling/rendering
programs for Linux and would like to:

1. teach me a bit about them - which is best, and how to get
   started

and/or

2. put together an architectural model for me, based on information
   and photographs which I can provide

please drop me a line.  I can afford to pay for your time, not a ton
of money but enough to probably make it worthwhile.

The sooner the better -- if you can time-travel to last week before
sending me email I'd really appreciate it :)
