It appears that if you upgrade (as opposed to a clean install) it keeps the
old 3.3.6 X server.  To use the 4.0.1 X server, run "Xconfigurator" as root
from a console login, after stopping the GUI login.

Then you can remove all the 3.3.6 RPM's from your system.  Worked for me!
