Custom apps programming question
This is probably a little off topic for the klug mailing list, if so please
reply to retnuh@advnet.net.
When writing custom applications/code for a third party, who gets the
source code? Does the writer keep it only for them/the company? Does the
end party using it get the source? What is the norm for this?
I realize this is probably on a per contract basis, but what type of causes
are normal? Can the third party resell the application? Modify(if given the
source) then resell? Who gets the intellectual rights?
I also figure the rules apply differently for mass marketed software, which
is not my concern, I'm pretty sure how that works.
Thanks for any info you can provide,
Dan Downs
