You're saying moving windows is slow?

If so, then you may not be running the right X server for your
video chipset, or you may not have acceleration turned on in
the X server config.

On my laptop (Trident chipset), acceleration is turned off by
default, and I had to add one line to XF86Config activate it.

Another alternative is you may be running the generic svga X
server, when a specific accelerated X server is needed.

Either way, you need to find out what video chipset your Laptop
has, and research it in the XFree86 documentation.
