xmailbox and sound...
Hello,
I recently joined the mailing list about a few weeks ago after
deciding that rebooting Windows 98 for the 8th time that day was just
enough of that... ;) now I'm running Linux RedHat 7.0 (yes, I know it's
got bugs, even tho I haven't seen any) quite happily except (ha ha) for
one small bit. I have invested a lot of time and xpm artwork into
xmailbox, everything is exactly as I could want it except that it persists
in generating that horribly annoying X beep <bloop, rather> instead of the
sounds that I set in .Xdefaults. xmailbox follows all the other directives
in .Xdefaults except for sound, so far this is what I've done:
1) Ran the sound myself: /usr/bin/play /usr/bin/sounds/mpmail.wav <enter>
and that works fine.
2) Switched the order of lines in .Xdefaults thinking that order might
have something to do with it, it doesn't apparently, <bloop>.
3) chmod'ed mpmail.wav to ugo+rwx, thinking that the rights aren't
right. <snicker>
I just can't figure it out... has anyone else fiddled with xmailbox or
know of anyone or anywhere that talks about this problem, all my web
searches yield are man pages, and frankly, I'm tired of the xmailbox man
page... ;)
BTW: Really loved the trick on getting the wheelmouse to work with
Netscape, you guys are lifesavers.
Thanks for any help!
