I am quite pleased to see this interest, and I would like to thank each of
the people who have kept this discussion going. It is a good idea and a
sign of our health as a group that we are going through this.

It's a fine idea, of course. KLUG exist so members can use our meetings and
facilities to promote more Linux activity, so have at it!

WHEN would you want to do this? Please coordinate with our Technical
Director, Brenda Smith (see the officers page on the website).

It not a problem in principle; I'd like to see this sort of thing hashed
out among the participants in the sale presence. If KLUG is going to be
spending money on this, officers would review that in any case.

One of the points to be evaluated by the computer sale group. I can see a
couple of ways to to this. There is a degree of risk in buying up any
inventory, and we don't want to expose KLUG excessively. For example, we
could buy a few shirts as samples, and take orders... selling our samples
if people REALLY want them right there.

We don't have to sell a single product, or ANY product for that matter. We
only need to do the most effective job of promoting Linux (and KLUG) that
we can. If we decide this means that we must sell CD's to do it, then we
ought to. Remember that there are already merchants there selling Linux
CD's, and we would NOT want to discourage them!

By simply being there, showing Linux systems, answering questions,
indicating when we meet, and pointing people to Linux sources (at the show
and elsewhere), we establish a powerful presence for Linux (and KLUG!).
Anything else (like revenue) is nice, but if we focus on the "sale" of the
IDEA we will achieve our goals in any case.

Carry on, please!
