hmmm... perplexing to me...

uhm... perhaps i'm just mistaken, or maybe i just don't know any better, but
i'm having a problem with a compaq computer (i bet you are as shocked as i)
where it currently has 16mbs of RAM built into the mobo and i've been trying
unsuccessfully to add more RAM to it... it is old(er), p200, but does take
DiMMs so i just kinda figured that perhaps i'd give a try to dropping in
some pc100 RAM... i've tried 32mbs of Kingston, it recognized 8mbs... i
tried 128mbs Kingston and it saw 32mbs... i even tried 128mbs PNY (cause i
could) and it saw 32mbs... and when i put both 128s in it saw a grand total
of 64 more mbs...

i'm wondering if anyone has any idea why this would be happening... the only
thing that seems to make sense to me (or at least the most obvious thing i
notice) is that the mobo doesn't run at 100mhz so the pc100 memory might be
causing oddities... however i was under the impression that pc100 memory
should run just fine up to 100mhz and be perfectly backwards compatible...

anyhow anyone else out there ever have this type of problem with a compaq?

thanks in advance for any ideas
