In general a full distribution is a "non-optimal" way to make a firewall anyway,
a stand alone mini-distrib is better if you can spare a box.
pmfirewall is pretty slick though, another one (Build ipchain rules in a GUI)

The RIGHT WAY to enable ip_forwarding is to edit /etc/sysconfig/network and set
"FORWARD_IPV4=true". You should not have to edit any rc.* scripts, and doing so
will just be confusing later as most GUI config tools will look at
/etc/sysconfig/network, including the RH control panel.
In fact if you go into the networking section of the RH control panel, select
routing, "Network Packet Forwarding (IPv4)" is a check box option.
