Re: Cable modem in Portage

You can connect it via USB or Ethernet. I am opting for the ethernet connection. Cable to fw eth0, fw eth1 to my hub, and so forth.

I *almost* got floppyfw working last night. The second nic I installed became eth0, and now the original eth0 (now eth1) won't initialize. I'm guessing I need to mess with syslinux.cfg now, but I just ran out of steam and had to sleep.

Does this problem sound familiar? Anyone else encountered this? The internal nic is the compaq brand (netelligent, or something similar) and the newly installed one is an Intel. If I boot to Red Hat, both interfaces are fine. It's just on the floppyfw. TIA for any pointers in the right direction.

What type of connection does the cable modem have? (ethernet, USB, ...)

Please let me know if it works with Linux. Especially if it's USB.
