Frontpage extensions

I need help, i had to install the frontpage extensions on my webserver at work
(It is running SuSE linux 7.0 w/kernel 2.4.1, apache, on a dual p3 866)My
problem is that i have no security, everything install fine, but when i go to
publish the site it never askes for a username or a password, i also had a
friend try to post some info from his house and it also worked fine without a
password, Microsoft's site was worthless and didn't help me out at all.  Any
help would be great.

P.S. 
	I'm also having this problem with my backup server
