Hylafax is a server application capable of sending faxes and
alphanumeric pages. As a network service, it allows fax modems to reside
on a single machine and network clients can then submit an outbound job
from any machine on a network. Faxes can also be received then printed
or emailed. Open source fax client programs are freely available for the
Unix, Mac, and Windows platforms. If you're interested in an open source
