Hardware Question

Hello,
I am thinking about buying a DVD player for my computer, and have a question 
about set-up.
This is my question, I have an IDE hard drive on primary master, and a ATAPI 
CD-RW on my secondary master. The DVD will be on the IDE also. So, where is 
the best place to put it. 
I speculate that if I put it on the same cable as my CD-RW, I will not be 
able to copy the CD's directly to the CD-RW (which I really think I have no 
reason to do that anyway) and if I put it with my hard drive, it may impact 
the performance of the DVD.
I would not normally worry, but now I have a little knowledge about how this 
hardware works, thanks to a presentation. (I fear that this little knowledge 
that I have is dangerous)
