Well, except ipchains or netfilter?

Hmmm, does that auth via PAM or a password stored in the engine itself?  I'm
quesssing itself (at least with 7.0.2) since it doesn't put a file in /etc/pam.d

Ah ha! Thats a better name than "pg_hba.conf".
