Only a theoretical decrease in stability.  2.4.x has several reported problems with SMP.  On my dual box the cyclades driver will kill the machine,  a guy I communicate with who has an 8 way box crashes within 15 minutes.

If they are pretty much stock configs I wouldn't expect a problem.
