CARES

If the gentlemen of the court would hear the petitioner, come in plea:

Think about our problem. The place downstairs, which does not share network
ISP's with CARES (we can say for sure) has the Total Access box and a Cisco
modular router and the friggin' T1. Modern, modern, modern. Pricey, pricey,
pricey.

CARES had an all-Compaq shop (before recently buying two HP's), workstations
through server. That repeater downstairs is a Compaq Netelligent. Think
about that name. It's not a repeater, IT'S A HUB! OUR hub! ISDN comes in on
Plain Old Telephone Service (untwisted pair, dudes--CAT 5 is unshielded
twisted pair), not branched off a T1 (or not in any special way).

The Total Access and the Cisco 1700 and the two hubs it plugs into have
*nothing* to do with us. Thank glub. :)

So the Ascend ISDN adapter is also the router for IPX/TCP/IP. Netelligent is
the hub. All we need do is reprogram the Ascend router to speak the way we
want. IF necessary we pump all traffic through the new server until we can
install a separate stateful firewall/router, but we should be able to move
the traffic the way we want. It'll just take some fscking around.

So! Does anyone here have any knowledge of programming an Ascend (recently
assimilated by Lucent of Borg) ISDN adapter/router? I hear it's an
adventure. Not impossible, just hard.

Response guaranteed to all sincere replies. :)
