SMP kernels.

Does anyone know if there are any disadvantages of running a SMP
kernel (2.4) on a single CPU box?  Other than a slightly larger kernel?

I've got a few boxes running 2.4.x, about half of which are dual CPU, and 
it's a pain to compile two different kernels for that minor difference.

As long as there are no stability or performance disadvantages, I'm
willing to take a small memory hit and run SMP kernels on all my PC's.
