I've had the distinct displeasure of several soho users who have such contraptions.  They are all *crap*,  they do everything, and do everything poorly, slowly, and unreliably.  But the HP models do seem to do eveything less poorly, less slowly, and less unreliably then all the rest.  Also their drivers tend to de-stabalize the Win9x boxes they are installed on.  With cheap printers, cheap little scanners, and fax modems I'd suggest going onzies.
