Yes, it was "gutted".  Most of the lost functionality (printing, etc...) is already back,  components simply replaced with GNU equivalents of which there are many.  The only functionality going away forever is Star Mail and Star Schedule,  and good ridance to bad rubish.  M$ document importing is better than it was before.
