Re: HP LaserJet 5n

What is the IP address of the jet direct? Print a printer self test page to get just about all the info you need to configure it with your other network components. You may be able to go to the IP address of the printer and configure it via a web interface, if that print server is equipped with that functionality. You are right, GW is the default gateway. Not sure about the others. But if you compare what you get from a printer self test page, you can probably draw some conclusions.

Hello. Still at CARES <g>. Got another question. We seem to have no
documentation on the above printer, an HP LaserJet 5n (for network, I
presume). It has a JetDirect Ethernet card in addition to the
parallel/serial combo. I can get the little one-line menu to get me to
TCP/IP configuration, but I do IP BYTE 1-4, then it wants 12 more bytes:

SM BYTE 1-4
LG BYTE 1-4
GW BYTE 1-4

????? Huh? Is that sm-lg as in small and large, and is that the acceptable
range of incoming connects? Is GW gateway? Any hints? HP seems to have
discontinued their online docs for this (one up for Novell in this area,
their website is marvellously helpful. I feel almost guilty. :)

TIA
