Jetdirects, particularly older ones, have occacional disagreements with the lpd daemon in RH6.2 and earlier. LPRng is much more stable. Make sure EVERYTHING queues through the Linux box, multiple connections is a great way to crash those poor old things. If your using LPRng and still have problems you might want to play around with the "remote_support" settings for that queue on the Linux box.
