Python?

I'm currently working on a "BSware PRO" edition that uses the 
SGI modified Redhat installer and installs Redhat with on an XFS 
file system.  (as requested by some people at the last meeting)

One of the things I need to do is modify a python install program.
Can someone save me some time and tell me the command to (compile?)
turn a "*.py" source file into a "*.pyc" binary file???

I've never done anything with Python before.  TIA!


P.S.  This is NOT working YET, so don't order any CD's now!   :-)
