Any Compilation Gurus?
I am trying to compile the latest CVS of the gnome-db project. I am having a
problem the Gnome DB developers attribute to old versions of autoconf and
automake, but I think I have recent versions. Before I bother them again I'm
wondering if anyone out here knows about such things.
I have RH7.1/Ximian and Red Carpet says everything is up to date. I have
checked around and not found anything more current than what Red Carpet lists:
libxml10-1.0.0-6
libxml2-2.3.9-1
libxml-devel-1.8.11-ximian.1
libxml-1.8.11-ximian.1
xml-i18n-tools-0.8.1-ximian.1
libxml2-devel-2.3.9-1
automake-1.4-8
autoconf-2.13-10
gcc-2.96-81
(I build the libxml2 libraries from src.rpms since they aren't usually in any
"distributions" and are needed by GNOME to do real XSLT).
The compile fails with:
make[4]: Leaving directory `/tmp/gnome-db/libgda/lib/gda-common/gda-xml-query'
make[4]: Entering directory `/tmp/gnome-db/libgda/lib/gda-common'

objects: ../../lib/gda-common/gda-xml-query/libxmlquery.a
make[4]: *** [libgda-common.la] Error 1
Can anyone explain to me what that error actually means?
GNOME DB is a nice package, but they don't "release" that often, and CVS
snapshots did build for me until fairly recently. BTW, Gnome DB is the
foundation for data base access in Gnumeric, and other gnome apps, as well as
GASQL which generates ERD diagrams, does report writing, etc... All **VERY
SWEET** if I could just get the &*$#^@*@OP@ thing to compile again.
